NITI Aayog and UNDP release a publication on Lifestyle for Environment (LiFE) on World Environment Day
New Delhi. On the occasion of World Environment Day, NITI Aayog, Ministry of Environment, Forests and Climate Change (MoEFCC), and United Nations Development Programme released a Compendium on LiFE Practices Around the World, at a commemoration event organized by the Ministry of Environment, Forest & Climate Change at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi.
Taking inspiration from the idea behind Mission LiFE launched by the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India Shri Narendra Modi and UN Secretary-General Mr. António Guterres at Kevadia, Gujarat on 20 October 2022, the publication features 75 case studies on environment-friendly practices across 6 continents and 50 countries. It highlights how the concept of LiFE is present across all cultures and countries, and through collective action, can become a watershed movement in our efforts to fight climate change.
Communities and governments around the world are already undertaking several environment-friendly initiatives. This publication features 75 such case studies that can inspire others to become Pro Planet People and make LiFE a global mass movement for climate action.”
Ms. Shoko Noda, Resident Representative, UNDP India, emphasized how “effective climate action requires knowledge sharing and learning from good practices around the world. The publication showcases how individuals and communities, supported by enabling policies and infrastructure, are bringing about large-scale impact in our fight against climate change. At UNDP, we continue to work with the Government of India to take Mission LiFE forward.’
UNDP also partnered NITI Aayog towards the LiFE Global Call for Ideas and Papers, which saw 2,500 ideas on LiFE received from 67 nations.
