Niti Aayog today called for applications for two of its leading programmes to expand the current ecosystem of incubators and to provide them with access to global benchmarks and best practices. The Programmes are Atal Incubation Centres (AIC) and Atal Community Innovation Centres (ACIC).
Briefing newsmen in New Delhi, NITI Aayog Chief Executive Officer, CEO Parameswaran Iyer highlighted that both the programs are under the Atal Innovation Mission.
He said, these programmes envision to create and support the innovation ecosystem in the country by establishing world-class institutions. He said, the initatives will help budding entrepreneurs of the country.
NITI Aayog CEO said that the AIC and ACIC programmes will play a pivotal role in enriching the start-up and entrepreneurship ecosystern of India and echo the anthem of Atmanirbhar Bharat.
Mr. Iyer said, each AIC is supported with a grant of up to ten crore rupees over a period of five years. He said, AIM has established 68 Atal Incubation Centres across 18 states and three Union Territories since 2016 which have supported more than two thousand seven hundred startups.
