Niti Ayog, Bharatiya Shikshan Mandal and Guru Nanak Dev Engineering College, Ludhiana organised Webinar on ‘Teacher’s Role in NEP Implementation’

Bathinda: The webinar on “Teacher’s Role in NEP Implementation” was conducted by NITI Ayog and Bharatiya Shikshan Mandal in collaboration with Guru Nanak Dev Engineering College (GNDEC), Ludhiana. The webinar was conducted as per the directions of NPIU whereby more than 85 teachers from GNDEC attended the program.

 

Dr. Sehijpal Singh, Principal, GNDEC addressed the participants and stressed the need for teachers to understand National Education Policy (NEP) for its better implementation. There were three invited speakers who touched upon different themes of the NEP-2020. The program was coordinated by the IQAC, GNDEC.

 

Prof. Raghavendra P. Tiwari, Vice Chancellor, Central University of Punjab, Bathinda was the Keynote Speaker who discussed ‘paradigm shift from Learner Centric Education to Learning Centric Education’. The focus of his presentation was to highlight the system of education as practiced in our country in ancient times by Gurukuls. He exhorted the autonomous nature of the Gurukuls where everything that happened in a Gurukul was the sole responsibility of the Guru, and there was no interference from any quarters. He trained a set of students who further trained others under the guidance of the Guru.

 

Prof. P K Jain, Director-MBA, Geetanjali Institute of Technical Studies, Udaipur was the Guest of honour who discussed ‘Training and Development of Teachers’. He was forthcoming in fixing the responsibility of ‘quality of teaching’ on the teachers. He explained the current situation in the field of ‘Research in our Institutions’ by comparing the data with China and the USA.

 

Dr. P K Sharma, Professor, Vardhman Mahaveer Open University, Kota delivered the Presidential Address on ‘Ethics in education: Foundation for Successful life’. Role of Ethics, specifically related to teachers, was deliberated to lay stress on its importance to develop not only good students but good human beings as well.

 

A Question-Answer session was also organised for the participants to get their doubts cleared from the panellists. Valedictory address was delivered by Dr. Davinder Singh, SVC, PU Chandigarh who summarised the views of different speakers. Vote of thanks was proposed by Dr. Jagbir Singh, Coordinator, IQAC, GNDEC.
