NLU Delhi features prominently in G20 Conference on ‘Crime and Security in the age of NFTs, AI and Metaverse’ organized by Ministry of Home Affairs in partnership with MeitY, MEA, CBI, NSCS Interpol and UNODC  

 

New Delhi : National Law University Delhi was invited and featured prominently in the inaugural ceremony of the G20 Conference on ‘Crime and Security in the age of NFTs, AI and Metaverse’ organized by Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) in partnership with Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), Ministry of External Affairs, National Security Council Secretariat, Central Bureau of Investigation, Interpol and UNODC, on Thursday, July 13, 2023.

 

The inauguration of the Conference was done by Hon’ble Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation, Shri Amit Shah. Amongst the Guest of Honours who shared the stage with Mr. Shah was Professor (Dr.) G.S. Bajpai, Vice Chancellor, NLU Delhi.

 

Professor Bajpai graced the occasion along with Shri Ajay Mishra, Minister of State, Ministry of Home Affairs and other Guest of Honours that included Shri Rajeev Chandrashekhar, Minister of State, Meity, Shri Harshwardhan Shringla, Chief Coordinator, G20 and Shri Ajay Kumar Bhalla, Union Home Secretary, Ms Debjani Ghosh, President, NASSCOM, Dr. V. Kamakoti, Director, IIT Chennai, Mr. Jurgen Stock, Secretary General, INTERPOL, Mr. Bo Mathiasen, Deputy Director, Division for Operations, UNDOC, Shri Nitin Kamath, CEO Zerodha.

 

The highlight of the inaugural session was the constitution of Cyber Volunteer Squads – student-led bodies formed by each of the seven invited universities. Twelve students of NLU Delhi volunteered to be a part of the Cyber Squad and were felicitated on stage with a Cyber Volunteer Squad Banner by Hon’ble Home Minister Shri Amit Shah.

 

On the formation of the Cyber Volunteer Squad, Professor Bajpai said, “NLU Delhi will institutionalize the arrangement of the student-led Cyber Squad within the Centre for Cyber Laws at NLU Delhi. Additionally, NLU Delhi will also set up a cyber-counselling centre to address issues related to cyber-crime and cyber-security and give counselling related to similar matters.”

 

The inaugural ceremony of the two-day conference was held at Hyatt Regency Hotel in Gurugram, Haryana and was attended by delegates from G20 member nations, invited countries, invited organizations, members from the academia, legal fraternity, industry including fintech and IT sector and senior officers of central and state government.

 

Being part of the Conference is a remarkable and prestigious occasion for NLU Delhi as it got the distinction of being graciously recognized on the international stage offered by the G20 platform. NLU Delhi’s participation in the conference is a testament to its commitment towards contributing its services to the society.
