NLU Delhi signs a tripartite MoU with the WIPO and DPIIT, Ministry of Commerce and Industry
New Delhi: National Law University Delhi is pleased to announce the signing of the tripartite MoU between National Law University Delhi with the World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO) and Office of Controller General of Patents Designs and Trade Marks (CGPDTM -Indian IP Office), Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India for launching the Joint Masters/LL.M. in IP Law and Management from August 2024.
The MoU was signed by Hon’ble Vice Chancellor Prof (Dr) G. S. Bajpai with Hon’ble Mr. Daren Tang, Director General, WIPO and Hon’ble Prof (Dr) Unnat Pandit, Controller General, IP Office, in the presence of the Hon’ble Union Minister for Commerce and Industry, Sh. Piyush Goyal and Hon’ble Minister of State, Sh. Som Prakash, Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India, Secretary and Joint Secretary, DPIIT and other officials of the DPIIT and WIPO at Vanijya Bhavan, New Delhi on 12th October 2023.
Vice Chancellor Prof. Bajpai noted that “…with this MoU we hope to continue walking the path of global excellence in teaching intellectual property, which we are sure will help us in achieving even higher levels of academic consciousness”.
He also emphasised that “…the collaborative initiative undertaken by the Office of the Controller General, Indian IP office, DPIIT, Government of India is in furtherance of a wider MoU signed early this year between Rajiv Gandhi National Institute for Intellectual Property Management Nagpur (RGNIIPM- an unit of Indian IP Office) and NLU Delhi in order to facilitate numerous activities through online IP education, legal and administrative training of examiners as part of continuing education of the Indian IP officials and law/policy research through NLU Delhi’s SPRIHA IPR Chair constituted by the DPIIT, Ministry of Commerce and Industry and the Centre for Innovation, Intellectual Property and Competition (CIIPC), National Law University Delhi”.
The one-year global programme will be offered in dual track (i.e. law and non-law background) to students from India, South Asia and to other foreign nationals.
