NMIMS Hyderabad Signs MoU with Consortium of Accredited Healthcare Organisations (CAHO) to Improve Research and capacity building initiatives for healthcare professionals
Hyderabad: SVKM’s NMIMS Hyderabad, part of NMIMS Deemed-to-be-University, one of India’s leading educational institutions with a 40-year legacy of academic excellence, has signed an MoU with Consortium of Accredited Healthcare Organisations (CAHO) to establish a Centre of Excellence to foster collaborative excellence in Research and capacity building initiatives in the area of Pharmaceutical Science and Healthcare Management.
Healthcare sector is one of the largest economy boosting sectors and is growing at a brisk pace using the conduits of public and private providers. The challenges of providing equitable, accessible and quality healthcare and its disparities get exposed when viewed geographically. COVID-19 pandemic has further challenged the healthcare systems all over the world and especially India. One important aspect which has not been given its due is the quality of Health and Health care delivery systems which is an area of utmost concern.
The Centre of Excellence would address this concern and focus on promoting and undertaking research activities and establishing new benchmarks in meeting the requirements of the healthcare fraternity like doctors, nurses, pharmacists and other professionals involved in delivering quality healthcare to the patients. It will serve as a repository of the best international and national practices. The main objectives of the MoU are to strengthen research-industry interaction for knowledge sharing and further the outreach of long-term and short-term certification programs by co-creating the programs.
It will be NMIMS Hyderabad’s third Centre of Excellence this year after the Center of Excellence on Innovation and Entrepreneurship with T- HUB and FICCI-NMIMS Hyderabad Center for Indian Business.
Dr Vijay Agarwal, president of CAHO has welcomed the collaboration and said that the MoU will facilitate knowledge sharing, long and short-term certification programmes, and identifying the existing skill gaps and needs on the ground. The research and programme delivery activities shall run through the centre of excellence called CAHO & NMIMS Hyderabad Centre for Pharmacy & Healthcare Studies (CNHPH).
Dr Tapan Kumar Panda, the Director of the Hyderabad campus overwhelmed with the association said that the centre intends to deliver a number of Healthcare Management programs, tailored for each individual group and also provide unique opportunities to learn and share the latest trends through research, case-study development, improvement of ideas. NMIMS will also bring in the best of healthcare sector leaders to connect and interact with the trainees to educate and enrich the experiences. The centre will additionally work in the areas of healthcare innovation, analytics, technology as Hyderabad campus has ongoing UG and PG programmes offered by the School of Pharmacy & Technology Management.
Mr. Sameer Mehta, Vice President of CAHO says that the centre intends to have an interdisciplinary research centre that provides deep insights on healthcare delivery and management to various stakeholders like public institutions, policymakers, entrepreneurs and corporates. This will enable the creation of better health systems through integrated elements of Research, Education and Outreach.
CAHO and NMIMS, Hyderabad will leverage on each other’s strengths and work in tandem with a focus on improving the quality of the healthcare systems and processes in the years to come.
