North-West University’s Golden Key student gets the honour of outstanding member award
Reston Mawononga, a third-year social work student at the North-West University’s (NWU’s) Mahikeng Campus, has been announced the winner of the 2022 Golden Key Outstanding Member Award.
This award celebrates outstanding Golden Key (GK) members who demonstrate exceptional achievement in all three of the GK pillars, namely academic performance, leadership and community service.
Reston says he is honoured to be recognised as an outstanding member of this remarkable society.
“This society has truly unlocked my potential. Thanks to the opportunities given to me by the society, I have experienced tremendous growth over the past few years. I would like to express my deepest gratitude to all the members, my peers at the NWU, and my family who contribute to my development.”
He explains that the GK International Honour Society offers its Southern African members up to five scholarship and award categories to apply for twice a year, and he applied for the GK Outstanding Member Award in December 2021.
Reston says being a Golden Key member is not just merely about academic success, but it is also about leadership and a commitment to serve.
Reston is also the current NWU All Sports Chapter’s marketing and public relations officer, and previously served as a service director for the Golden Key Mahikeng Chapter.
