North Zone Intervarsity at AMU: Kanpur Jammu, Kurushetra among others win their matches
Aligarh: Chatrapati Shahuji Maharaj University, Kanpur, University of Jammu, Kulshetra University, Central University of Punjab, Choudhary Devilal University, Sirsa won their respective matches at North Zone Intervarsity Cricket Tournament being held at Willingdon Pavilion, Aligarh Muslim University defeating their rivals respectively on Monday.
CSJM University, Kanpur defeated CCSU Meerut by 96 runs. Batting first CSJM opener Aman Yadav in his elegant knock blasted boundaries at will for his strokeful 69 off 47 to ensure a strong total of 161 for 4 on the score board. Shivendra?s lethal spell of 6 for 14 demolished CCS University for mere 66 runs in only 14 over. Sarfaraz scored 17 runs and Kartik took 2 wickets for CCSU.
In another match at Willingdon Pavilion University of Jammu defeated PRSP University, Allahabad by 5 wickets. Batting first PRSPU scored 110 runs in stipulated 20 over by losing 9 wickets which University of Jammu surpassed in 19.1 over losing only 5 wickets. University of Jammu?s Yawar Ayub?s knock of 62 was an unadulterated joy for the crowd. Shail Shrama with his accurate bowling earned 3 wickets of PRSPU. For PRSPU Nikhil Scored 31 and Manish took 2 wickets off 12 balls.
Two matches played at University Athletics ground where in a closed contested match defeated GBU (Noida) by 7 runs. KUK scored 121 runs in 20 overs losing 6 wickets, Sharab being the star performer who scored 61 not out off 50 balls and Akhilesh taking 2 wickets for 11runs.
On the same ground Central University of Punjab defeated Shoolini University, Solan by 14 runs. CSU scored 129 runs and SUS could only manage 115 runs.
At Ground 3, CDL University, Sirsa defeated LLRU by 41 runs. CDLU won the toss and managed 128 runs on the board by calculative batting from Pranav who made 29. Chasing a modest total LLR University, Hisar collapsed in 18.1 overs with just 87 score on the board. CDLU pacer Dilbagh did the maximum damage by grabbing 4 wickets for 14 runs.
Various teams praised the facilities offered at AMU?s cricket ground during the tournament.
