Aligarh: In the North Zone Intervarsity tournament, semi final played at Willingdon Pavilion (AMU), Al-Falah University, Faridabad (AFU) today defeated Guru Govind Singh Indraprastha University, Delhi (GGSIPU), by convincing 8 wickets.
With this win and eyes on the top spot, Al-Falah will meet Delhi University in the semi final tomorrow and winner of the match will play Aligarh Muslim University in the final on 4th December.
Elected to bat first after winning the toss, GGSIPU had a shaky start and were bundled out for only 110 runs in just 28 over. None of the batsman could last long on a disciplined bowling performance of AFU. Yash who made a patient half century (50 off 65 balls) was the lone saviour for the team.
Chasing the total, AFU batsman started on a positive note and lost only two wickets in achieving the target on the last ball of the tenth over. AFU star batsman Yashpal blasted GGSIPU bowler all around the ground, scoring (52off 21 balls), Arun was other major contributor with the bat, who remained not out scoring (23 off 13 balls).
AFU, Manik in his devastating spell of two over, bowled heart out to grab three wickets conceding only eleven runs.
