Nowshera Forest Division celebrates Raksha Bandhan by tying Rakhi to plants

 

RAJOURI : On the eve of Raksha Bandhan, Sunderbani Range of Nowshera Forest Division conducted a special plantation drive at Thanda Pani.

During the plantation drive, girls of Panchayat Thanda Pani tied Rakhis to the plants they planted. The Girls pledged to protect the plants as they are being protected by their brothers. The girl participants were also presented certificates under the theme “One plant each for girl child”.

The members of PRI appreciated the unique initiative taken by the Forest Department under the guidance of Vivek Verma, Conservator of Forests West Circle Rajouri, Neelima Shah, Divisional Forest Officer Nowshera and Rakesh Verma, Range Officer Sunderbani.

The members of PRI urged the Forest Department to conduct such drives on all the historical events, festivals etc to rope in more and more people to protect the green gold.

Speaking on the occasion, Divisional Forest Officer Nowshera, Neelima Shah said that Nowshera Forest Division is committed to conduct such special drives for creating mass awareness and promote participatory management of forests.

The drive was jointly conducted by Rangeel Singh and Ved Parkash, Block Officers of Sunderbani Forest Range.

The whole event was conducted under the direct supervision of Vivek Verma, Conservator of Forests West Circle Rajouri, Neelima Shah, Divisional Forest Officer Nowshera and Rakesh Verma Range Officer Sunderbani.
