NRLM organizes training camp on Mushroom cultivation at Sangaldan
Ramban: Self Help Groups have started mushroom cultivation in Sangaldan area after taking training from the Agriculture Department during a workshop conducted by the National Rural Health Mission (NRLM), Ramban.
As per the District Nodal Officer, NRLM Ramban, the initiatives were being carried in convergence with the Line Departments to provide new avenues of revenue generation to the SHGs for their linkage with Prime Minister’s Formalization of Micro Enterprises (PMFME) scheme.
As many as 31 SHGs were imparted training under the supervision of AEO Sangaldan. They were informed that within the a period of 27 days in situ germination having conducive growing conditions, the oyster mushrooms start sprouting out from the substrates of moisture paddy straw and maize stalks at a temperature ranging from 20° C to 30° C. It was further informed that after their full cycle of germination, 5-6 kg of Mushroom will be the net output from 1 bag of spawns substrate.
Pertinent to mention here that in search of alternative sources of income generation within the realms, passionate and energetic Women SHG members are being imparted extensive training in mushroom cultivation.
