NSS Special Winter Camp concludes at Padma Shri Padma Sachdev Govt P.G College for Women

 

JAMMU: NSS Units of Padma Shri Padma Sachdev Govt. P.G. College for Women Gandhi Nagar Jammu concluded seven day -Special Winter Camp, here today on the college campus.

The camp was held from February 26, 2022 to March 4 2022 under the guidance of the College Principal Dr. Sangita Nagari.

As many as 30 NSS volunteers participated in different activities during the weeklong camp conducted under the supervision of NSS Program Officers- Prof. Mala Bhasin and Dr. Monika Hans.

On the first day of the camp, a Lecture cum Demonstration on Self Defence was organised. Coach, Department of Physical Education, University of Jammu, Harinderpal Singh along with his team demonstrated various techniques for Self Defence to the volunteers.

On the second day, a Lecture on the topic ‘‘Integrated Approach on Science and Technology for Sustainable Future’’ was organised. The resource person for the event was Dr. Ashaq Malik of Government PG College, Rajouri. He spoke on the contribution of top Indian Scientists, Noble Prize Laureates in the field of Science and Technology.

A Cleanliness Drive in the College premises was conducted on the third day of the camp. The volunteers actively participated, cleaned the campus and collected the waste in paper/cloth bags and disseminated the message of saving the environment by reducing the plastic use in our daily routine.

A Seminar on the topic – ‘Healthy Body and Importance of Healthy Diet’ was organised virtually on March 1, 2022, whereat volunteers shared their views for healthy living.

On the fifth day of the camp, the event of Plantation Drive was conducted in the college premises.

The Principal of the College, Dr. Sangita Nagari along with NSS PO’s -Prof. Mala Bhasin and Dr. Monika Hans; NSS Committee members- Dr. Harjeet Kour Sodhi and Prof. Abhinav Sharma along with NSS volunteers planted medicinal and flowering plants.

The volunteers also visited A Heritage Place- Dogra Art Museum followed by a Heritage walk to Mubarakh Mandi Palaces on March 3, 2022.

The aim of this particular activity was to make the volunteers aware about the Dogra Heritage. The seven days Special Winter Camp concluded today with an Awareness Rally on cleanliness.

Dr. Sangita Nagari congratulated NSS volunteers for their commendable work during the camp and also acknowledged the efforts of NSS Programme Officers.
