NTPC Bongaigaon today signed two MoAs with District Administration,Kokrajhar for development of infrastructure at Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Kokrajhar and installation of Public Gym equipment at Gandhi Park at Kokrajhar under its Corporate Social Responsibility
The MoA signing ceremony took place on 29th January,2024, where Smt. Kabita Deka, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Kokrajhar and Shri Rabin Chandra Brahma, Executive Engineer, PWD signed on behalf of the District Administration and PWD and Onkar Nath, AGM (HR) signed on behalf of NTPC Bongaigaon in the gracious presence of Shri Pradeep Kumar Dwivedi, IAS, District Commissioner, Kokrajhar and Shri Karunakar Das, CGM, NTPC Bongaigaon. The programme was also attended by Shri Shashi Shekhar, AGM(HR), NTPC Bongaigaon and officials of HR Department.
The Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya (JNV) is running extra coaching at its Centres of Excellence (CoE) at Kokrajhar where 80 girl students are studying from JNVs of North-East Region.The Vidyalaya is currently facing hardship in accommodating the girl students under one roof. This initiative will be highly beneficial towards causes of women empowerment, Govt of India’s Beti Bachao initiative, Youth Development, upskilling and mainstreaming of youth. It may also be noted that these CoEs act as coaching centre for girl students from whole of North-East India.
In addition, the Gandhi Park at Kokrajhar is also being renovated and as a part of the renovation towards beautification of the park and attracting visitors in the park, a public gym is being envisaged in the park. The public gym will help in improving mental, physical, and communal benefits of exercising in parks and in public green spaces. In addition, the fitness park will also help in socialising while exercising, strengthening community and interpersonal relationships.
This partnership between NTPC Bongaigaon and the Kokrajhar district administration exemplifies how corporate social responsibility can contribute significantly to social welfare and development through strategic partnerships. Through this joint venture, the initiatives aim to pave way for improvements in health and education indicators for the communities in Kokrajhar district. The projects have been supported by NTPC Bongaigaon’s CSR initiatives under activities (ii), (iii), (vii) of Schedule VII of prescribed CSR activities.
