Nutri-Garden and Tree Plantation campaign at Faculty of Agriculture Sciences

 

Aligarh : As per the directives of the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmer Welfare, Government of India, a campaign on Nutri –Garden and Tree Plantation was observed by the Faculty of Agriculture Sciences, AMU to mark as a run-up of the International Year of Millets 2023.

A virtual Nutri-Cereal Mega Conclave was organised on 17th -18th Sep by ICAR-IIMR, Hyderabad. The program was also represented by Faculty of Agriculture Sciences, AMU through virtual mode under the supervision of Dean Faculty of Agriculture Sciences (ICAR, Nodal Officer), Prof Mujeebur Rahman Khan.

The Chairpersons of Department of Home Science (Prof Farzana Alim), Department of Post-Harvest Engineering and Technology (Prof Sadaf Zaidi) and Coordinator B.Sc. Agriculture (Prof Iqbal Ahmad) were some of the prominent attendees of the program.

Around 100 farmers from Aligarh district along with teaching faculty, students and non-teaching staff watched the inaugural session in the smart class room (Examination Hall) built from the ICAR grant. The Hon’ble Agriculture Minister, Shri Narendra Singh Tomar was Chief Guest of the inaugural session.

After the inaugural session, the Faculty of Agriculture Sciences organised lectures on topics; Nutri –Cereals and their role on human health delivered by Prof Saghir Ahmad, Department of Post-Harvest Engineering and Technology and Role of plantation on sustainable agriculture and rural livelihood by Prof Mujeebur Rahman Khan, Dean Faculty of Agriculture Sciences.

The Dean along with Chairperson of various Departments planted saplings in the Faculty of Agriculture Sciences. The guava saplings and seeds of vegetables were distributed to the farmers, including a large number of women farmers.
