Nutrition-week related activities held at AMU
ALIGARH : To mark the National Nutrition Week, the Department of Home Science, Aligarh Muslim University organized week-long nutritional activities under the series of G20 related events under the supervision of the Chairperson, Dr. Saba Khan. Former Chairperson, Prof. Farzana Alim inaugurated the week.
Iram Fatima (B.Sc. III semester) won the first prize in the poster making competition, while different groups of undergraduate and postgraduate students of the department participated in a “one-hour Nutri-canteen” programme and prepared low-cost nutritive recipes and organized stalls of the food items prepared by them under the guidance of Dr. Iram Aslam. Certificates were given to the winning group.
A nutritional awareness programme, titled, “Kam Daam Mei Uchit Poshan”, was also organized by the M.Sc. (I Semester) students at the Rural Health Training Centre, Jawan. They prepared and distributed low-cost iron and protein-rich recipes to the patients visiting the RHTC.
Later, an awareness programme on home remedies for mothers of school going children was held at the Department of Home Science to create awareness among them how to maintain the nutrition level in the diets of their children.
