NYK Poonch organises District Level Neighborhood Youth Parliament

 

POONCH : Nehru Yuva Kendra Poonch, under the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India, on Thursday organised District Level Neighborhood Youth Parliament here at KCM Government Degree College.

Chairperson District Development Council Tazeem Akhter graced the event as chief guest while Member DDC Surankote A Sohail Malik and Dy SP Headquarter Nawaz Ahmed were Guests of Honour.

Fateh Mohammad Abbasi (Program Officer, NSS); Shafeeq Ahmed (District Employment and Counselling Centre); Vikrant Sharma(State Level Resource Person NYKS J&K Ladakh); Advocate Iftkhar Ahmed Bazmi; Harpreet Singh (Agriculture Department) and Muzammil Zamaan (Project Manager, District Industries Center Poonch) were the resource persons .

Adv Sanjeev Sharma, Parvaiz Malik (Founder of Rahul Dravid Cricket Academy) also graced the event as Special Guests.

The objective of the programme was to develop leadership qualities among the youth and to enable them to realise their full potential and in the process, contribute to the nation building process. It was also aimed at motivating the youth to strive for excellence in their respective fields and to bring them to the forefront of the development process.

At the onset, Nitin Hangloo, District Youth Officer, NYKS delivered the welcome address and highlighted the aims and objectives of organising such programmes.

In her address, Tazeem Akhter (Chairperson, District Development Council Poonch), thanked NYKS for organising awareness activities for the development youth and the nation. She added that youth should develop leadership qualities and use their potential for nation building. She also stressed on the youth to work for eradication of social evils from the society.

Vikrant Sharma (Social Activist) advised the youth to take maximum benefits of the platform to realise their leadership potential. He added that the present generation should become an asset for the country not a liability.

Muzamil Zamaan (District Industrial Center) advised the youth to focus on skill development rather than searching for government jobs. He added that there was a huge need for skilled people in the district. He further added that skilling the youth would automatically solve the issue of unemployment.

Sohail Malik ( DDC Surankote) advised the youth to take maximum benefits of the Self Employment and Public Welfare Schemes and make best efforts for achieving their targets.

Advocate Iftkhar Ahmed Bazmi enunciated that the youth must take maximum benefit from the programme. He also encouraged the youth to participate in different competitions for realising their leadership potential. He said that the self sustainable youth would reflect the success of these events.

The programme continued with different speeches on youth empowerment followed by thematic group songs by Border Cultural club. The themes included Water Conservation, Drug De-Addiction etc.

A stall was also installed by the Ayush Department displaying a range of Indian System of Medicines for the promotion of the same among the youth.

A large number of youth from different youth clubs, mahila mandals and Trainee women from Vocational Training Centres participated in the program.

The programme was held under the supervision of Nitin Hangloo, District Youth Officer and managed efficiently by Mohammad Shafeeq (State Level Resource Person, NYKS J&K Ladakh) and all the NYVs of District Poonch.
