Odisha University students in Indian Universities Teams for World University Games 2023 at Chengdu, China.
Bhubaneswar: The FISU World University Games 2023 will be organised in Chengdu, China from 28th July to 08th August 2023 by the Federation of University Sports of China (FUSC) under the auspices of the International University Sports Federation (FISU). In this regard Association of Indian Universities (AIU), New Delhi has entrusted KIIT-Deemed to be University to conduct the selection trials of the Indian Universities Archery, Athletics, Badminton and Volleyball Men & Women Teams for participation in World University Games 2023.
The selection trials were successfully conducted on 14th & 15th June 2023 at KIIT University premises. A total of 600 approx students from 150 + universities participated in the said selection trials.
The following athletes from Odisha Universities (KIIT University & Sambalpur University) have been selected in the Indian Universities Athletics, Badminton & Volleyball (men & Women) Teams.
Athletics:
1. Lalu Prasad Bhoi, 100M Men (KIIT University)
2. Pragyan Prasanti Sahu, 100M Hurdles Women (KIIT University)
3. Amlan Borghain, 200M Men (KIIT University)
4. Susmita Tigga, 3000M Steeplechase Women (KIIT University)
5. Antima Pal, 5000M Women (KIIT University)
6. Priyanka Goswami, 20 KM Walk Women (KIIT University)
7. Vikrant Malik, Shot Put Men (KIIT University)
8. Ajay Kumar, Hammer Throw Men (KIIT University)
9. Swadhin Kumar Majhi, High Jump Men (Sambalpur University)
10. Manisha Merel, Long Jump Women (Sambalpur University)
Out of 10 athletes selected, 7 athletes Lalu, Pragyan, Amlan, Susmita, Antima, Swadhin & Manisha are currently training at the Reliance Athletics HPC supported by DSYS, Govt. of Odisha; Priyanka Goswami student of KIIT has already qualified for the 2024 Paris Olympics and currently in the national camp and Vikrant & Ajay are currently training at KIIT University.

Mamali & Shibani are training at Sports Hostel, Bhubaneswar under DSYS, Govt. of Odisha.
Badminton:
1. Rutaparna Panda (KIIT University)
2. Swetaparna Panda (KIIT University)
Also KIIT Tennis Star Kabir Hans attended the selection trials of the Indian Universities Tennis Team at Jain University, Bengaluru on 16th & 17th June 2023 and has been selected as the No 1 singles player.
