Official Launch of the Global Education Monitoring Report 2020 in the Republic of Mozambique

Today, October 7, 2020, from 11 AM to 1 PM in the Meeting Room of the Ministry of Education and Human Development (MINEDH), the official ceremony of the launch of the Global Education Monitoring Report 2020 (2020 GEMR) was held.
The Global Education Monitoring Report has been produced annually since 2015, as part of the monitoring of the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, more precisely in the education sector – “Education 2030”. GEMR has a dual mandate from the Education 2030 Action Framework:

  • Monitor the progress of education in the Sustainable Development Goals and;
  • Report on the implementation of national and international education strategies to help hold partners accountable for their commitments.

The theme of the 2020 Report is “inclusion and education: all without exception”. It was around this motto that the presentations converged. The annual themes are proposed with the aim of motivating national political dialogue and regional peer learning on the issues of SDG 4 – Quality Education.
High-ranking individuals, such as, Her Excellency the Minister of Education and Human Development, Dr. Carmelita Rita Namashulua, Her Excellency the Minister of Gender, Children and Social Action, Ms. Nyelete Mondlane, the United Nations Resident Coordinator in Mozambique, Ms. Myrta Kaulard, the UNESCO Representative in Mozambique, Mr. Paul Gomis, Her Excellency the President of the National Statistics Institute, Dr. Mónica Magaua, Her Excellency Deputy Minister for Education, Dr. Manuel Bazo, and many other people attended the event both virtually and in loco.
