Ohio State University: Ohio State campuses face threat of severe storms and high winds

According to the National Weather Service Wilmington office, severe storms and strong winds are the main threat. Showers and storms will spread over the region Thursday into early Friday morning.

The primary danger with these storms will be damaging winds, although isolated tornadoes cannot be ruled out. The greatest severe threat will be near, or south, of the Ohio River as well as areas along the I-75 corridor.

Forecasters expect these storms to hit between 8 p.m. Thursday and 4 a.m. Friday.

Once the severe storm threat ends, strong to damaging winds will be possible for a several hour period in Ohio. Winds of 25 to 40 miles per hour with gusts in excess of 60 miles per hour are possible, particularly over the northern half of Ohio. The wind threat is expected between 10 p.m. Thursday to noon Friday.
