Ohio State University: Ohio State, CAS open new drive-thru COVID-19 testing location

In response to the latest surge in COVID-19 in central Ohio, The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center is partnering with CAS, a division of the American Chemical Society, to open a new drive-thru COVID-19 testing location today.

The new testing site is located on the first floor of the CAS parking garage at 2540 Olentangy River Road. It will have the capacity to test up to 1,000 people each day. Testing services will be offered Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Saturdays from 8 a.m. to noon. COVID-19 testing will be open to the entire community by appointment only.

“We know that testing is an important tool in our battle against COVID-19,” said Dr. Andrew Thomas, interim co-leader and chief clinical officer at Ohio State Wexner Medical Center. “We remain committed to supporting the central Ohio community and to meeting the increased demand for COVID-19 testing. At this point, our focus is testing individuals with COVID-19 symptoms and those with significant exposures to people known to have COVID-19. Knowing your COVID status can help prevent you from spreading this virus to family members, friends and others you come in close contact with.”

Beginning Monday, Jan. 3, any individual with an Ohio State MyChart account will be able to self-schedule a COVID-19 test at the new CAS site. Those who do not have a MyChart account or who wish to schedule a test at another Wexner Medical Center testing site should call their Ohio State health care provider or the COVID Call Center at 614-293-4000 to schedule a test.

The new drive-thru testing location will replace the Wexner Medical Center COVID-19 testing location at 650 Ackerman Road. It will be staffed by the Wexner Medical Center clinical team as well as 10 Ohio National Guard members who are among those deployed by Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine to help Ohio health care facilities respond to the winter surge in COVID-19 cases.

“On behalf of all my colleagues at CAS, we are proud to partner with Ohio State Wexner Medical Center to provide this vital community service aimed at improving health, wellness and safety,” said Manuel Guzman, president of CAS. “It’s another example that when we join forces to strengthen our community, we can deliver even greater impact together.”
