Ohio State University: Ohio State News Alert: Supporting a safe and healthy holiday weekend

Ohio State University President Kristina M. Johnson expressed her appreciation and thanks to the university community before the Thanksgiving holiday.

Johnson highlighted the ongoing support for the university’s health and safety protocols in her safety video this week. So far, 92% of students, faculty and staff have been vaccinated against COVID-19 – a figure 40% higher than the state rate.

Over the holiday, when people are back home or traveling with friends and family, the university is encouraging people to continue to wear masks and follow recommended health practices.

Students, faculty and staff are also urged to get an annual flu shot. Public health officials have warned that the flu season may be severe this year.

This weekend, Ohio State takes on That Team Up North in one of college football’s great rivalries. Johnson asked the Buckeye community to celebrate the team safely and be a good neighbor.

Students are encouraged to use CABS or the discounted Lyft Ride Smart program to get home safely.

“One of the best experiences I have had since we have been back together on campus is seeing how the Buckeye spirit has shone as brightly as ever,” Johnson said. “My deepest thanks for all your hard work this semester. Enjoy your time off – and have a wonderful Thanksgiving.”
