Ohio State University: ‘Top Gun’ tribute has Ohio State marching band soaring
The Ohio State University Marching Band was feeling the need for speed Saturday afternoon in Ohio Stadium.
The halftime show in the game against Purdue was a celebration of the 35th anniversary of “Top Gun.” The 1986 Tom Cruise action film highlighting the competition between elite navy aviators was a box office hit that included a famous soundtrack.
The band played the “Top Gun Anthem,” “Mighty Wings” and “Danger Zone” during the performance. Formations includes a fighter jet, and spelling out “Top Gun” and “Maverick,” the nickname of Cruise’s character.
Fashion and retail studies graduate Katie Galuska dotted the “i.”
