Omega Seiki Mobility and B Medical Systems join forces, signs MoU for storage boxes and transportation of medical products and COVID-19 Vaccine in India

New Delhi, India: Omega Seiki Mobility, an Anglian Omega Group company manufacturing electric vehicles and provider of last-mile mobility today signed an MoU with B Medical Systems, a Luxembourg based company that has pioneered the technology to store and transport vaccines, blood components, lab specimens, etc. through their innovative storage boxes that can be calibrated to ultra-low temperatures of -70-degree C.

B Medical Systems today is a leading storage and transportation solution provider for all medical refrigeration needs. The company has a presence in more than 130 countries and has participated in large vaccinations across the world.

Jesal Doshi, Deputy CEO of B Medical Systems said today “Throughout our 40+ years of experience, we have been creating innovative solutions to store and transport vaccines, blood components, laboratory specimens, etc across the world safely and reliably. Our commitment to supporting governments, health institutions and NGOs has not only saved innumerable lives but helped communities develop and prosper. Today we are proud to bring our technology to India and collaborate with Omega Seiki Mobility to make it available to a vast majority of people of India”.

B Medical Systems is the only company worldwide offering an end-to-end solution of refrigerated devices certified by the EU MDR, US FDA, and WHO PQS across vaccine cold chain, medical refrigeration, and blood management solutions. These include medical-grade vaccine refrigerators, laboratory refrigerators, laboratory freezers, blood bank refrigerators, plasma freezers, contact shock freezers, ultra-low freezers, and transport boxes that secure an unbroken cold chain for the safe storage and transport of any medical temperature-sensitive product or samples. B Medical Systems’ solutions provide the lowest total cost of ownership and are designed to protect the vaccine’s potency until the last mile, even in the most hostile environments.

Omega Seiki Mobility and B Medical Systems will collaborate in India to use storage boxes for vaccines and other medical products in India. These will be used in large quantities to transport the COVID Vaccine across the country.

Uday Narang, Chairman of Anglian Omega Group said on the occasion “COVID Vaccine is a beacon of hope to millions of people in our country. Govt. has done its job by making it available free for distribution. Now it is our job to ensure it reaches the people in a completely safe way, across the country. We are a leading last-mile connectivity solution provider in India. We will provide the complete vaccine delivery solution to the people of India using our cold chains and our electric vehicles across the country using B Medical boxes. This is yet another example of our ‘Technology in Motion’ philosophy at OSM”.

Apart from Vaccine and medical products the company also sees food delivery as a possible usage for B Medical boxes. Several last-mile food delivery company companies are using 2 wheelers in India. At present, there are no standards on food delivery and in several instances, customers have complained of the poor condition of delivery in dirty bags & boxes, etc. by some of these companies.

“Food delivery to customers is a very important segment for us. We will use B Medical systems boxes to store and deliver food to our customers most hygienically and safely. These boxes follow the highest safety and hygiene norms and have been certified by WHO for use. We will use these boxes to store and transport fresh food, meat products, and dairy products. The boxes will be calibrated to maintain exactly the temperature needed for each of these products. We want to ensure food is delivered in a hygienic & safe way from kitchen to the dining table” Says Uday Narang.

Omega Seiki Mobility plans to roll out vaccine delivery on a large scale throughout the country. From these warehouses, the boxes will be calibrated to set the temperature required and transported to delivery centers in Omega Seiki electric vehicles.

The MoU was signed in Delhi in the presence of the Ambassador of Luxembourg, H.E. Mr. Jean Claude Kugener.

“I am extremely happy that B Medical Systems and Omega Seiki join forces today. Superb cooperation between the Luxembourg company B Medical Systems, a leader in medical refrigeration for more than 4 decades, and Omega Seiki, a rising star in EV mobility. I am sure that this new partnership in the field of medical refrigeration of vaccines will be extended soon to other products as I see a growing need in the transport and delivery requirements throughout the country in the coming years. Omega Seiki has the expertise to transport the blue boxes of B Medical Systems safely during the last mile delivery. This cooperation adds to the many partnerships Luxembourg companies have launched with Indian partners during the 73 years of our diplomatic relations and contributes hugely to the strong partnership between both countries.” said the Ambassador on this occasion.

The company will start offering the boxes to vaccine companies, hospitals, state Govts. Also, Omega Seiki will start offering boxes for last-mile food delivery in their 2 and 3-wheeler electric vehicles.

Dr Deb Mukherji, MD of Omega Seiki Mobility added “At OSM we see vaccine delivery as our social responsibility. We have to play our role in it. A project of this size and scale needs strong technology-backed product delivery and our IT platform is built for this. We are geared up for the delivery challenges across India and bring the vaccine to the doorsteps of our people. It is a great achievement for OSM to be taking the lead in this mass community-based vaccination program of the Govt. of India. There is an adequate supply of boxes for Vaccine delivery. Various sizes of boxes will be deployed in the fleet of 2 and 3 wheelers for the last mile.”

The company expects to start the distribution of B Medical boxes across Indian states in the next few weeks. A hub and spoke model for distribution will be prepared for a pan India rollout. The company is in talks with several states for last-mile vaccine administration to the mass population. The boxes have intelligent software built into them and distribution data can be tracked for monitoring, says the company.
