One day capacity building programme held at Anantnag on importance of MHPSS in Child Protection Mechanism

 

ANANTNAG: A Day long Capacity building program was organized by District Child Protection Unit Anantnag in collaboration with Child Guidance and Wellbeing center, IMHANS-Kashmir (Govt Medical College, Sgr) at Town Hall Mattan.

The inaugural technical session was held by Ms. Sana Majeed, LCPO, at DCPU Anantnag.

She highlighted the Role of Village and Block level child protection committees, JJB, CWC and focused on Rehabilitation of children in need of care and protection.

Mr. Syed Mujtaba -Training Coordinator at CGWC-IMHANS highlighted the objectives of the Program and the need for integrating mental health in the mainstream.

He is highlighting the importance of mental health and such capacity building sessions for the service providers. He said that it is the first step towards making healthy societies.

The second technical session was held by Mr. Mohd Shaheen- Occupational Therapist at CGWC IMHANS.

The session was about contextualizing mental health issues of children in need of care and protection and how unsafe contexts and emergencies affects mental health of children.

Second technical session was held by Adil Fayaz, Prog coordinator, he explained the development process and psychosocial issues that children experience. Apart from that how we can identify the psychosocial needs of children in need of care and protection.

The participants were from the Child protection village level committee/block level child protection committees of DCP unit Anantnag.
