One day SSR programme on “Nuclear Radiation Detection”
Aligarh : A one day Scientific Social Responsibility programme on “Nuclear Radiation Detection” as part of the DST-SERB project entitled “Deciphering the role of entrance channel parameters in break-up fusion reactions” was organised by the Department of Physics, Aligarh Muslim University.
Several research scholars from across the country participated in the event.
Speaking on the occasion, Professor BP Singh (Chairperson, Physics Department and Principal Investigator of the DST-SERB project) said, “Scientific Social Responsibility (SSR) is the initiative of the Department of Science & Technology in order to build synergies among all stakeholders in the scientific community”.
Later Prof. Singh also delivered a talk on nuclear radiation detection with special emphasis on “Internal Conversion”.
The participants were also given hands-on training and performed experiments in the nuclear physics labs to determine the conversion coefficient. The demonstration of the experiment was very interactive. Dr Mohd Shuaib, Mr Mohd Shariq Asnain and Mr Aquib Siddique facilitated students in performing the experiments.
In the concluding ceremony certificates were distributed to all the registered participants. Mr Mohd Shariq Asnain, coordinated the programme while Mr Mohd Shariq Asnain delivered vote of thanks.
