One Day Workshop on ‘Remote Sensing & GIS: Hand-Held Training on Digitization’ held at SP College

 

SRINAGAR : The Sri Pratap College Srinagar in collaboration with GDC Surankote today organized a ‘One Day Workshop on Remote Sensing and GIS: Hand-Held Training on Digitization’ for students of Geography, here.

The Chief Patron, Prof (Dr) Khursheed Ahmad Khan (Nodal Principal, Kashmir Division), greeted the students for participating in training which are applicable in the present era. He also acknowledged the efforts of the faculty of the Geography Department for organizing awareness among the students about digital technology.

The Patron, Dr Khursheed A Parray, who is also Coordinator Department of Geography, emphasized on the role of GIS and Remote Sensing in the Earth Sciences.

The Guest of Honor, Sheikh Zulfikar Azad (SSP Security, Kashmir), inspired the students to get fully familiarized with such training. He also emphasized the role of digital technology in the defense department.

The inaugural session concluded with remarks by the Chief Guest Dr. Mohammad Ashfaq, Head, Department of Geography, GDC Surankote.

The second session of the programme was started by Dr. Feroz A. Wani who gave a demonstration of Digitization and Georeferencing in ArcGIS 10.3. At the end of the training various queries raised by students were welcomed for discussion.

Dr. Mohammad Ashfaq presented vote of thanks to the organizing committee including Dr. Sameer Fayaz, Dr. Feroz A. Wani, Ishtiyaq Ahmad Bhat and Shazia Irshad Faculty of Department of Geography for making this event successful.
