One week faculty development Program on ‘Advances in Structural Engineering; begins at GCET Jammu
Jammu: One week online Faculty Development Program on ‘Advances in structural Engineering’ organised by Civil engineering Department under TEQIP-III today started here at Government College of Engineering & Technology (GCET), Jammu .
The main focus of this programme is to provide knowledge to the faculty and Research Scholars about technical advancements in the area of construction and Structural Engineering.
Principal, Dr. Sameru Sharma, in her inaugural address stated that the programme would facilitate the engineering faculty to update with latest advancements happening in the field of structural engineering. She further stated that the interaction ,exchange/sharing of knowledge amongst the faculties participating from different institutions in the programme would help in generating new ideas to be incorporated in academic curriculum for the benefit of students.
Dr Sanjeev Kumar Gupta, Convener & Head, Civil Engineering, welcomed the participants and resource persons and briefed about various activities undertaken by the Civil Engg. Department and guided the proceedings.
Resource person, Prof. Rajesh Goel NICMAR Delhi, gave presentations on technology and management of High Rise Structures and emphasised on demand of high rise buildings, development of innovation in structural system.
Prof. Ashok Ahuja IIT Jammu, another resource person, also gave presentation on Wind Resistant design of buildings and elaborated on wind loads and their design aspects.
Eminent speakers from IIT Jammu and NIT Kurukshetra would be the resource persons for the forthcoming sessions of the FDP.
The FDP witnessed active participation of 60 participants including research scholars and faculties from different states of the nation. Enthusiastic participants shoot their queries after each of the sessions which makes the first day of FDP a great success.
