One-week sports events conclude
ALIGARH : The Sapphire House beat the Topaz House in Volleyball, while the Topaz House beat the Ruby House in Football and Sapphire House beat the Emerald House in the Tug of War events played during the week-long Inter-House sports events at the Syedna Tahir Saifuddin School, Aligarh Muslim University.
In Athletics, Arsalan Anwar of Emerald House stood first, whereas Mohd Uzaif Zaheer (Sapphire House) stood second and Mohd Ausaf (Ruby House) stood third in 100-meter race.
The Topaz House team secured the first position in the Relay Race event while the Sapphire House was judged second and Emerald House got the third position.
In the finals of the cricket tournament, Ruby House won the match by 70 runs, defeating Emerald House. The overall sports championship trophy was captured by the Sapphire House and a special prize was given by the Principal to Abu Talib for hitting 19 sixes.
Addressing the prize distribution ceremony, the Chief Guest, Prof. Asfar Ali Khan (Director, Directorate of School Education) encouraged students to participate in sports activities as it would develop the teamwork spirit in them, besides helping them maintain good health.
The principal of the school, Mr. Faisal Nafis felicitated sports teachers and other officials for organizing the Inter-house sports events successfully. He said that games and sports are an important part of student life and a student gains different types of skills, experience, confidence and sportsman spirit by participating in such activities.
