Online Chikitsa Mitra brings Free Health Camp to support Amarnath Pilgrims

New Delhi : Online Chikitsa Mitra, India’s leading rural health-tech start-up, successfully organized a special free health check-up camp at the Chandanwari Base camp, Amarnath Yatra. This initiative provided vital healthcare services to over 5,000 pilgrims participating in the yatra last week.

The Amarnath Yatra is a spiritually significant journey that draws devotees from across the country. However, the trek to the sacred Amarnath Cave, situated at an altitude of 3,800 meters, presents numerous health challenges such as severe exhaustion, high altitude sickness, and other health issues due to the physically demanding nature of the journey and the rugged terrain. This year, a total of 350,000 pilgrims have registered to participate in the yatra.

Recognizing the critical need for accessible healthcare services in this high-altitude environment, Online Chikitsa Mitra’s health camp offered a range of services including first aid, general health check-ups, treatment for altitude sickness, emergency medical services, and teleconsultations with specialist doctors. The camp was equipped with modern medical equipment and staffed by a team of experienced healthcare professionals led by Dr. Silsila Leishangthem Rawat, General Practitioner and Diabetologist, who ensured that pilgrims received expert care and attention.

At the success of the camp, Smriti Tandon, Co-founder of Online Chikitsa Mitra, stated, “At Online Chikitsa Mitra, our mission is to make quality healthcare accessible to everyone, no matter where they are. By providing essential medical services to pilgrims at the Amarnath base camp, we aimed to not only support their spiritual journey but also ensure their health and safety along the way.”

She further added, “This initiative was made possible through the support of the J&K government, Amarnath Shrine Board, our partner doctors, and Army officials, with a shared vision to enhance healthcare access for the pilgrims.”

Building on the success of the Amarnath camp, Online Chikitsa Mitra is committed to expanding its reach by organizing more free health check-up camps at various tourist and pilgrimage sites across the country. These initiatives aim to ensure that vital healthcare services are readily available to those in need, regardless of their location.
