Online Workshop on Yoga Day 5: Experts educate youth on Hypokinetic diseases, preventive measures

Kalakote: Day 5 of online workshop on Yoga and Wellness, organised by GDC Kalakote in collaboration with EBSB, today witnessed yoga demonstration on Pranayama, Yoga Nidra and Tratak by Dr Sanjeev Kumar, Yoga instructor from Haryana.
Professor Romesh Kumar Gupta, Principal, GDC Kalakote supervised the morning session while the afternoon session was monitored by Dr.Aijaz Ahmad Hakak, Joint Secretary, BOSE Srinagar.
Dr Showkat Hussain, Professor, Government College of Physical Education, Gadoora Ganderbal and also the member of Physical Education Foundation of India, addressed the participants on the “Causes of Hypokinetic diseases”. He told that over engagement of youth with mobile phones and electrical gadgets is the main cause behind these Hypokinetic diseases such as Osteoporosis, Obesity, Hypertension, Diabetes etc. “Our primary focus should be on adopting a healthy lifestyle to ensure sound mind and soul”, he added saying that only way to overcome these Hypokinetic diseases is to adopt Yoga and exercises as part of our daily lives.
Medhansh, Shifali, Asif Karim, Raja Manan Yahya, Deepika, Jeevika, Dr Sunil Mangoch and Dr Anshu were among those who scored 40 out of 40 marks.
Convenor of this workshop, Dr Dinesh Sharma and other faculty members of the host College, Professor Sachin Kumar Bhagat, Professor Anayat Ullah Khan, Dr Afa Dul, Dr Pinkey Rakwal, Dr Mushtaq Ahmed, Professor Sanjogita, Professor Shivani Thakur, Professor Esha Bhagat, Librarian Ruchika and Manoj Kumar Sharma also attended these sessions.
