Oral Pathologist Day celebrated in Dental College Jammu

 

Jammu: To commemorate the National Oral Pathologist Day, a function was organized in the Post Graduate Department of Oral & Maxillofacial Pathology & Oral Microbiology, Indira Gandhi Govt Dental College (IGGDC) here today.

This day marks the birth anniversary of Dr. H M Dholakia, who was pioneer in the field of Oral Pathology and is considered the father of Oral Pathology. He was the first Post Graduate Oral Pathology teacher in India at Nair Dental College in 1960.

On the occasion, several activities were carried out by the Department, including cake cutting, soap carving competition, plantation drive, preparation of charts, posters and models, distribution of sweets to the workers. The function was graced by Principal IGGDC, Prof. Rakesh Gupta and Prof. & Head of Department, Dr. Rubeena Anjum. They also unveiled a Portrait of Dr. HM Dholakia in the Department.

Highlighting the significance of the day, the Principal recalled the hard work of Dr. Dholakia in the field of Oral Pathology. He called upon the students and doctors to follow his footsteps to cherish their goals in this specific field. He also appreciated the efforts of the Department for organizing this important function. The Principal and HoD also distributed mementos and prizes among the winners and token of appreciation for the entire staff bringing the event to a beautiful end.

Assistant Prof Dr. Mandeep Kaur, Dr. Nidhi Khajuria, Dr. Nitish Bhat, Dr. Ashanka Bhardwaj and Dr. Aeshna Pandita were also present on the occasion.
