Orientation program at Amity University Gurugram
Gurugram : A large number of freshers and their parents were present at Amity University campus today. Four days (24th to 27th July) orientation program includes familiarization with the academic process with the teaching and learning environment, examination system and many other processes. During the orientation, experts from the industry and corporate interacted with the freshers to provide them with the glimpses of latest trends and also to sensitize the students with the work ethics and professional challenges they will face. The theme of Orientation Programme 2018 is “Nurture Capabilities, Competence and Values at AUG- Groom yourselves as New Age Professional”.
Freshers are motivated and guided to adopt the spirit of innovation and creative research. An open house is also organized for the freshers and their parents to oversee the cutting edge research and innovations happening at the Amity University.
Dr Aseem Chauha, Chancellor, Amity University Gurugram while addressing the gathering said, “As an Amitian you have unlimited opportunities, but you have to be focused and you have to take advantage of the things offered here.”
In the Vice Chancellor’s address of the freshers of Class of 2018 Prof P B Sharma inspired the freshers, “I need not remind you that you will be the professionals of the new age. A new age, a new era and a new Century that is the Century of People, Century of Mind and a Century ushering a new hope to wipe out misery, hunger and unemployment from the face of the humanity and create a global society, global citizenship, cutting across the barriers of nationality, negating the divisions of race, religion, colour, caste and economic disparity to create everlasting peace and harmony between people of the world”.
Prof Sharma also give them a set of 5 advices these included ; develop self discipline, pay your greatest attention to studies, tech savy and challenge the status co, bring pride to your parents and your alma mater by your good conduct and behavior and refrain from ragging in any form.
Ms Sameera Satija, Environment Activist while delivering her lecture said, “We have to understand the value of nature and it is the high time that we need to start protecting.”
Nisha, 1st Year Student, Amity Business School while attending the orientation programme said “The campus is very beautiful, I have met few faculty and they are very friendly. I am hoping the best three years of my life ahead.”
Rohan, 1st Year Student, Bsc Physics Hons said, “I guess, I am the right place where I always want to be. I just went through the research gallery of the university and I really liked they are doing. I have met few friends on the very first day of the college.”
Vice Chancellor Prof. Sharma also advised the freshers to strictly adhere to the call of discipline and decorum, practice self discipline and help implement zero tolerance ragging policy of Amity University.
