Orientation Program for new MSW students

 

Aligarh : The newly admitted Master of Social Work (MSW) students were given an overview of the complete realm of university life, from academics to social activities including course requirements, satisfactory progress, reference materials, disciplinary procedures and the university culture in an online Orientation Program of Department of Social Work, Aligarh Muslim University (AMU).

Welcoming the new students into the university, Prof Nisar Ahmad Khan (Dean, Faculty of Social Sciences) emphasised that the MSW program is an amalgamation of profession and passion.

He encouraged the students to take up the cause of underserved and weaker sections of society and spoke on the scope of the social work profession.

Prof Naseem Ahmad Khan (Chairman, Department of Social Work) discussed the course curriculum and developmental avenues.

Dr Mohammad Tahir delivered a talk on ‘Introduction to Field Work’, Dr Mohd Arif Khan discussed ‘Scope of Social Work in Health Care Set up’, Dr Qurratul Aein Ali briefed on the PRA/PLA techniques—which are important for social work field work practices to understand group dynamics, Dr Shyna Saif delineated ‘Relevance of Social Mobilization in Social Work’, Dr Andleeb Rather gave a presentation on ‘Report Writing in Field Work’, Dr Sameera Khanam talked about ‘NGO Management and Corporate Social Responsibility’ and Mr Mohd Uzair deliberated ‘Methods of Social Work’.
