Orientation program on Robo-making at the India’s biggest Robotic Competition “ROBOFEST-GUJARAT 3.0” at Science City
24-25th May, 2023 | Gujarat Science City, Ahmedabad
Gandhinagar: Robotics encourages students to think creatively, to build and design solutions to real-world problems. And it also helps youngsters to come up with new innovative ideas and solutions when problems arise. Additionally, robotics can encourage young minds to think outside the box and come up with original ideas.
With an aim to promote the robotics culture amongst the students in the country, Gujarat Council on Science & Technology (GUJCOST) and Science City, working under the aegis of the Department of Science & Technology, Govt of Gujarat have designed and lunched India’s biggest Robotic competitions for STEM students. The program designed as ROBOFEST-GUJARAT 3.0 – engineering the future, has provided an ideal platform to encourage and engage more and more students in this creative competition not only at the national but also at the international level.
The Robofest Gujarat has received 629 registrations from India as well as international institutions in seven categories of robo-making. Out of these, 224 ideations were shortlisted for further evaluation. Finally, 151 ideation proposals have qualified for the Level – II Proof-of-Concept (PoC) Stage and won a total award of Rs. 75.50 lakh as cash prize, with Rs. 50,000/- per team.
Amongst the selected team, 121 teams are from Gujarat, 30 teams from other states in the country and from the premier scientific and academic institutions including IIT Madras, NIT, Tiruchirappalli, IIT Dhanbad, IIT Mumbai, VNIT Nagpur, IIT Jammu, NIT Rourkela, NIT Jamshedpur, Lovely Professional University, Assam Engineering College, Chandigarh University, Manit Bhopal and VNIT Nagpur.
Considering the immense potential of the innovative ideas of the students, the program has been designed to give mentoring to the young innovators, so that they can come up with a high level of Proof of Concept (PoC), GUJCOST has organised a two-day orientation program at Gujarat Science City, Ahmedabad for 151 teams during 24-25th May, 2023. The program aims to cover the latest trends and technological advancements in the field including the use of artificial intelligence and machine learning in robotics.
The two-day orientation program will be mentored by a team of domain experts including Dr Debnik Ray, Sr. Scientist, Division of Remote Handling & Robotics, Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC), Mumbai, Dr. Anjali Kulkarni, IIT Kanpur, Dr. Vivek Sangwan, IIT – Mumbai, Shri Avinash Punekar, CEO, iCreate, Dr. Narottam Sahoo, Advisor, GUJCOST, who will discuss the robo-making as well as its application parts in an interesting and exciting manner.
Through this orientation, participants will gain insight into the latest advancements in learning technology as well as practical knowledge on how to take an idea from conception to fruition.
GUJCOST has also made arrangements for filing provisional patents for each of the 151 creative ideas submitted by the students as a stepping stone for their career and future.
