Orientation programme held at the Department of Islamic Studies
ALIGARH : The Department of Islamic Studies, Aligarh Muslim University organized an Orientation Programme for the newly admitted students, which aimed at familiarizing them with the campus environment, academic schedule, curricular and extra-curricular activities, faculty members and the resources available in the department that help students in their educational pursuits.
In his welcome address, Prof. Abdul Hamid Fazili, Chairperson, emphasized the importance of the orientation programme, adding that such types of programmes play a crucial role in helping students pass through the transition into a new educational environment. He said that it helps them acclimate to a new campus and promote a vital connection with academic activities.
Dr. Bilal Ahmad Kutty, Seminar Library-in-Charge, presented an overview of the books available at the seminar library and urged the students to make best use of the resources to excel in studies and carve out a good career for them.
Dr. Aijaz Ahmed, President, Islamic Studies Society highlighted the objectives of the Society and its importance in the overall development of students.
An election to the office bearers of the Islamic Studies Society for the academic session 2024-25 was also held on this occasion.
Shaista Manzoor (MA III Semester) was elected Vice President while Afreen Khan (MA III Semester) and Safi Ahmad (MA I Semester) were elected Secretary and the Joint Secretary, respectively.
The other elected members of the Society include Sadiya Farah Mirza (MA III Semester), Ruqaya Mubarik (MA III Semester), Anzalna Rafiq (MA I Semester), Imran (MA I Semester), Faizan (MA I Semester), Aquib (MA I Semester) and Kazima (MA I Semester).
Ruqaya Mubarik and Anzalna Rafiq were also elected as the Secretary and Joint Secretary, Seminar Library, respectively.
