New Delhi: Orion Edutech, an NSDC partner company that provides employability enhancement training and placements, unveiled LearnHat – an interactive live learning platform that acts as a bridge between students and tutors. LearnHat’s aim is to democratize learning by ensuring that every student has access to the rights tools and guidance to get the best education. LearnHat will primarily focus on students in tier 2 and 3 cities and smaller towns. Its value proposition rests on delivering its sessions/courses (except English learning) in a number of regional languages – making it easier and more convenient for students to learn.

LearnHat is an e-learning platform that provides live interactive online tuitions for ICSE, CBSE and State Board (currently covering seven State Boards in six states that include West Bengal, Bihar, Haryana, Maharashtra, Assam and Tripura) students across the K-12 sector and Spoken English learners in the Adult Learning segment. The company is headquartered in Bangalore and has a pan-India presence in over 20 cities across India. This number is growing at a rapid pace, as parents are seeing tremendous value in having their children being coached in regional languages, making it easier and more convenient for students to learn. LearnHat aims to make learning engaging, scalable, and affordable for all. Students benefit with classes starting just Rs. 75 per session

The edtech company already has 400 plus teachers across India teaching on its platform as tutors for math, science, English and social sciences – and is looking to scale this to a 1000 tutors by December 2021. LearnHat limits class attendance to six students per tutoring session, to encourage two-way communication and interaction. Educators use a combination of teaching methods, pedagogy, game-based learning, and in-house developed technology to deliver lessons. Over 1,500 students are already learning on the platform. LearnHat aims to grow this number to over 50,000 by the end of this fiscal year along with expanding to more courses in coding, foreign languages and other life skills segments.

Tutors on the LearnHat platform will deliver sessions in several regional languages including Hindi, Bengali, Assamese, Odia, Marathi and English. The company will soon be equipped to deliver lessons in Kannada, Telugu, Gujarati and more.

Orion has brought Priyadeep Sinha on board to lead LearnHat. Priyadeep was previously founder at Kidovators, where he focused on creating 21st century skills programs on creativity, critical thinking and problem solving for school children across India. He was also associated with Global Alliance for Mass Entrepreneurship where he launched a business education and acceleration program for MSMEs.

Priyadeep Sinha, CEO of LearnHat said, “India is a diverse country, where regional language forms a comfort bond unlike any other. Parents communicate with their children in their native language at home, and naturally children are more comfortable with this. We therefore wanted to extend this to education as well, to make earning more fun, engaging and a meaningful experience.”

He further added “LearnHat is created to serve ‘Bharat’ by providing high-quality, affordable live education to K-12 and adult learners across diverse economic and geographical categories. Even our Prime Minister in his address on Independence Day this year emphasized on breaking down linguistic barriers to allow everyone to progress. Hence, we see an opportunity for us to tap into a market of 5-6m students across India and also bridge the linguistic gap and nurture talent in the regional parts of our country.”
