Outstanding Researchers Award, Young Researchers Award announced

 

Aligarh : Professor Qamrul Hasan Ansari, distinguished mathematician, Department of Mathematics, Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), has been selected for ‘Outstanding Researchers Award’ 2021 in Sciences category.

Prof Ansari will receive the award during the online Sir Syed Day celebrations on October 17. The award recognises his outstanding accomplishments in mathematics.

Dr Mohammad Zain Khan (Assistant Professor, Department of Chemistry) and Dr Mohammad Tariq (Assistant Professor, Department of Electrical Engineering) will share the ‘Young Researchers Award’ in the Sciences’ category.

Dr Mohd Arshad Bari (Assistant Professor, Department of Physical Education) will be given the ‘Young Researchers Award’ in the field of Humanities and Social Sciences.

According to the announcement made by Innovation Council and University Incubation Centre: Prof Ansari has more than 4000 citations and with h-index 39. He is the author of Metric Spaces (Narosa) and co-author of Generalized Convexity and Nonsmooth Variational Inequalities (Taylor and Francis, CRC Press) and Leading global scientific publications such as Springer, Taylor and Francis, Elsevier and others have published his books. He is the associate editor of the Journal of Optimization Theory and Applications, Fixed Point Theory and Applications, Carpathian Journal of Mathematics, Fixed Point Theory (Romania) and guest editor of internationally renowned journals, namely: Positivity, Journal of Global Optimization, Applicable Analysis and Journal of Fixed Point Theory among others. Prof Ansari has also published over 250 research papers in journals of international repute.

The recipients of the ‘Young Researchers Award’ in the Faculties of Sciences, Life Sciences, Interdisciplinary Biotechnology Unit, Engineering and Technology and Medicine category, Dr Mohammad Zain Khan (Department of Chemistry) and Dr Mohammad Tariq (Department of Electrical Engineering) have both shown excellence in research and teaching—exemplifying scholarship and mentorship in the highest sense. While Erasmus Mundus Fellow, Dr Mohammad Zain has worked as Project Scientist under the DST Fast Track Young Scientist Scheme immensely contributing in the fields of material sciences and bioelectrochemistry; Dr Mohammad Tariq has worked as scientist in the National Institute of Ocean Technology under Ministry of Earth Sciences, Government of India and Rolls-Royce Corporate Research Lab in Singapore. He directs various sponsored national and international research projects—leading a team of multiple researchers in the domain of power converters, energy storage devices, optimal control for electrified transportation and renewable energy application.

Dr Mohd Arshad Bari, who will receive the ‘Young Researchers Award’ in the Faculties of Arts, Social Sciences, Management and Law has substantially contributed in the area of human physical performance in injury and illness recovery and enhancement of sports performance. His case studies of international football players, who represented their countries in the FIFA World Cup 2018, are well known.
