Over 500 Students of the IGNOU-RAI Retail Course Secured Jobs with Top Retail Brands at a Job Fair

New Delhi: Retailers Association of India (RAI) in association with Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) organised a Job Fair on the 9th & 10th of June 2022 for the students of the distance learning graduation course in Retailing to give them exposure and enhance their employability in the retail sector. The Job Fair, which was organised at the IGNOU Headquarters, New Delhi, saw the participation of more than 35 top retail brands in India and the hiring of over 500 students.

RAI has set up a comprehensive distance-learning graduation programme through IGNOU that includes periodic coaching sessions, guidance and internship opportunities with leading retailers. In the year 2021, over 3,000 enrolments were received for this curriculum.

Dr Lawrence Fernandes, Director – Retail Learning & Membership, Retailers Association of India (RAI), said,“The Job Fair is a critical link that helps bridge the talent gap in the industry with people that are specifically trained for retail. And we are happy to see some of the best brands in the country participating in it and offering full-time jobs to students instead of internships. This goes to show the effectiveness and relevance of the curriculum in making the students industry-ready.”

Over 1200 students were invited to participate in this Job Fair saw participation of top retailers in the country like Arvind Lifestyle Brands Ltd, Infiniti Retail Ltd (Croma), Jubilant Foodworks, Marks and Spencer, and Reliance Retail, to name a few.
