Oxford University Press collaborates with BIC Cello for its recently launched Summer School
New Delhi: Oxford University Press India (OUP), the world’s leading university press with the widest global presence, has announced a collaboration with BIC Cello for its recently launched fourth edition of its anticipated Summer School. An online initiative by OUP, Summer School offers kids an exciting range of activities and prizes to keep them creatively engaged through the summer break. Summer School was launched as an online brand connect campaign with the aim to encourage kids to read and use the summer break to learn while having fun. From its very first edition, Summer School, has received an overwhelming response. BIC Cello is India’s most recognized stationery brand and the leading manufacturer and distributor of writing instruments.
As part of its Summer School initiative, OUP will launch three competitions in partnership with BIC Cello. These competitions include a read and draw contest; a writing contest; and a general knowledge contest. The writing contest will encourage children to create their own endings for popular children’s stories, while the Read and Draw contest will empower children to build on their imagination and creativity as they sketch their own version of the story or a character. Finally, the General Knowledge contest will encourage children to take interest in the workings of the world around them and develop a global outlook.
Through engaging activities each of these contests will encourage participants to think creatively and develop a passion for reading and writing.
The competitions will be open to participants from across India and will include activities related to reading and writing; and they will be promoted by both OUP and BIC Cello through their social media handles to reach as many people as possible. Summer School is one of the most popular initiatives launched by OUP. In its fourth edition, it will include many esteemed educationalists and authors such as Sonia Relia of My Learning Train and Anahita Lee, author of Little Artist. OUP and BIC Cello have come together to keep children productively and creatively engaged this summer as they learn and grow with the Summer School.
Sumanta Datta MD, Oxford University Press India, shared his thoughts on the collaboration and said “At OUP, we strive to encourage children to develop a love for reading and acquire a life skill that will hold them strong, through any career or life choices made later in life. Reading and writing always complement each other. Thus, given the shared synergies with BIC Cello, we believe this partnership will help both brands achieve our larger mission of empowering future generations with a genuine love for reading and writing.”
Commenting on the occasion, Manos Nikolakis, General Manager BIC Cello, said: “Drawing and writing are essential tools to foster learning and encourage creative expression. At BIC Cello we believe in the importance of creativity in education and human development. We are excited to partner with Oxford University Press for the fourth edition of Summer School to help spark joy and imagination amongst children in India.”
Since its inception, the Summer School has been received with immense enthusiasm by children and parents. The last edition of the Summer School included creative activities such as puppet making and cartoon drawing and saw a growth of 2.5X as compared to the previous edition. This year with its interesting line up of authors, exciting activities and contests, the Summer School aims to further expand its reach and growth.
