Oxford University Press launches the 4th edition of its best seller, Technical Communication -Principles and Practice by Professor Meenakshi Raman and Professor Sangeeta Sharma

New Delhi: Oxford University Press India (OUPI) recently launched the fourth edition of its widely popular title, Technical Communication -Principles and Practice (first published in 2003) by Professor Meenakshi Raman and Professor Sangeeta Sharma. It provides effective communication skills to the undergraduate students of engineering. Concepts have been developed with the support of numerous examples, samples, and practice exercises to build skills of job readiness in readers for them to stand out during job interviews and perform better at their future jobs. All the four language skills (LSRW) have been thoroughly addressed and covered to enhance the understanding of communication. The book is divided into 4 parts: Part I: Introduction to Technical Communication; Part II: Listening and Speaking; Part III: Reading and Writing; Part IV: Review of Grammar.

This book presents an exhaustive treatment of the principles and advanced forms of technical communication, both oral and written. It also includes key topics such as technical reports, business correspondence, group discussions, interviews and presentation strategies. The author, Dr Meenakshi Raman, a former Professor and Head of Department of Humanities and Social Sciences, at Birla Institute of Technology and Science, (BITS) Pilani, Goa campus, has over 25 years of teaching experience and has authored many books on communication skills. She has guided many PhD students and played an active role in the administration at the Pilani and Goa campuses of BITS.

The co-author, Dr Sangeeta Sharma, a Professor in the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences at BITS, Pilani teaches courses on communication and advertising, and has published several articles on communication. Along with teaching, she has published over 25 books and 56 research papers in areas such as gender studies, advertising, cultural studies and communication across reputed journals, which she has presented at various national and international forums. She is a licensed trainer for the Springboard Development Programme, United Kingdom.
