Padma Shri Dr. Zahir Ishaq Kazi Presided Over the 5th Convocation Ceremony at Vijaybhoomi University

 India’s first liberal professional university, Vijaybhoomi University, located at Karjat in the Greater Mumbai area, conducted its 5th convocation ceremony on campus recently. Padma Shri Dr. Zahir Ishaq Kazi, a distinguished figure in the field of education, was the Chief Guest for the event. The ceremony was presided over by the University’s Vice Chancellor, Dr. Atish Chattopadhyay, accompanied by Dr. Sharad Pulate and all the deans and faculty members. Among the distinguished attendees were members of the Governing Body, Board of Management, Academic Council, Administrative Staff, and proud parents.

The convocation celebrated successful graduates, including Dhwani Lokesh Bhandari, who received the Vice Chancellor’s Medal, and Saichandar Patro, Sangeetha G, Gomes Shayne Diego, and S Abhay, who were honored with the Dean’s Medal.

Congratulating the graduates, Padma Shri Dr. Zahir Ishaq Kazi expressed, “I am truly honored to be here today to celebrate your achievements. He started by mentioning that students studying at the university are blessed to be surrounded by nature and study in liberal ambience where thoughts are allowed to flow freely and convert to ideas leading to innovation. This University has been started recently in 2019 but has clearly adopted the National Education Policy 2020 completely. The interdisciplinary learning across science and technology, Management, law, music and design is very evident. The students here have the choice and freedom to choose the subjects of their own interest and curate a portfolio which demonstrates their competencies. The University curriculum also provides an opportunity to the students to discover their passions and laign them to their career aspirations. This moment marks a significant milestone in your journey. Education is a powerful tool that can transform lives, and I encourage each of you to use the knowledge you have gained here to make a positive impact in the world. He ended his speech by advising the students to pursue their passions relentlessly, and remember that learning is a lifelong journey.”

Addressing the graduates, Dr. Atish Chattopadhyay stated, “Today, we celebrate not just your hard work but also your resilience. This university has seen tremendous growth, and I am proud of the capabilities and partnerships we have developed over the past year. Our commitment to providing scholarships has also played a vital role in supporting talented students in achieving their dreams. As you embark on the next chapter of your lives, my advice is to remain consistent and embrace continuous learning. Congratulations to all of you and your families on this momentous occasion.”

Vijaybhoomi University continues to thrive with its six schools, each achieving remarkable milestones throughout the year. Highlights include:

  • The Jagdish Sheth School of Management organized ‘Brand Karjat,’ a competition encouraging students to strategize on enhancing Karjat as a tourist destination. Student Roshan Patro founded a startup, SnackHeads, providing healthy snacks, while Uday Bhardwaj from the BBA 2022 batch qualified for the National Level Shooting Championship.

  • The True School of Music hosted renowned international musicians and artists from Norway, the UK, and France, conducting masterclasses that enriched student learning experiences. An impressive 90% of TSM students secured job offers from well-known industry leaders.

  • Students from the School of Science & Technology received three internship offers from Mahindra and Mahindra.

  • Adith Iyer from the School of Law achieved first place in the New India Junction Debates.

  • The School of Design showcased an exemplary exhibition of student works in illustration, graphic design, visualization, and painting.

Many students of this University have chosen the international pathway and are studying in the US and Europe in universities such as Georgia State University, State University of New York and KEDGE Business school, in France.
