Pals Plush to produce PPE kits to protect from COVID-19 at GMR Kakinada SEZ

Bhubaneswar: The current onslaught of Covid-19 pandemic in India is taking its toll on the doctors and para medics, who are risking their lives to treat the infected patients. There is a dire need of regular supplies of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). For the benefit of medical fraternity, the Andhra Pradesh Government has decided to procure PPE kits locally to help assist and aid medical and para medic staff dealing with Covid19 patients. This task has been entrusted to Mr. Muralidhar Reddy (IAS), District Collector & Magistrate, East Godavari, to select a prospective philanthropic entrepreneur, who can take up this benevolent gesture of supplying quality PPE units as per the demand.

GMR Kakinada Special Economic Zone (SEZ) Management has been approached by the office of the DC to fulfil this requirement. Acting swiftly to this request from the authorities, GMR Kakinada SEZ got in touch with M/s Pals Plush India Pvt. Ltd, the manufacturers of soft toys and accessories, operating out of the KSEZ. On special request from GMR KSEZ, M/s Pals Plush India Pvt. Ltd., which has the requisite technology, skills and manpower to produce ‘Personal Protection Equipment’ kits rose to the occasion and dedicated its entire production capability for manufacturing high quality PPE kits including Coverall and Face Shield. This activity commenced from 1st April, 2020, and is catering to the requirements of doctors and para medic staff dealing with Covid-19 patients in Andhra Pradesh.

Speaking on the occasion, Ajay Sinha promoter of M/s Pals Plush India Pvt. Ltd., said, “We are inspired by the benevolence of GMR Group Chairman Mr. GM Rao and Business Chairman, Mr. BVN Rao who have served the nation through infrastructure and CSR activities of GMR Varalakshmi Foundation. We are fortunate to have got this opportunity through GMR to serve the nation in this crisis”.

Pals Plush is one of India’s top ten manufacturers of soft toys and accessories, which is exporting their products to the European countries. Endowed with its expertise, inherent capabilities and a state-of-the-art facility, Pals Plush is now manufacturing PPE kits using the seamless metal detection machines with the AQL (Acceptable Quality Limit) based in-house testing facility, which make the product safe for the end-users. All finished products pass through a specially designed UV (Ultra Violet) tunnel for enhanced control of any bio-contamination. The output is handled by expert personnel in apt PPE gears, who follow rigorous clinical hygienic protocol while packaging the products.

The project of PPE production at Pals Plush is being directly supervised by the Project Director, DRDA (District Rural Development Agency), East Godavari and the MD of APMSIDC (Andhra Pradesh Medical Services & Infrastructure Development Corporation). Pals Plush delivery plan is to produce 2,000 to 5000 PPE kits per day from its Kakinada SEZ’s factory. On being chosen for this social cause, Mr. Ajay Sinha of Pals Plush thanked Mr. Prasanna Challa, CEO, KSEZ, stating that his inspirational leadership and the excellent infrastructural support for the manufacturing unit helped cater to this requirement for the state and the country.
