Panchayat level Assessment Camps organised for Specially Abled Persons in Kishtwar 539 PwDs checked for prosthetic aids

KISHTWAR : Panchayat level Assessment Camps for Specially Abled Persons were today organised by the Social Welfare Department in collaboration with Artificial Limbs Manufacturing Corporation of India (ALIMCO) here across District Kishtwar.

A series of Panchayat/Block level assessment camps were held to identify Persons with Disabilities (PwDs) in need of any kind of prosthetic aid. The Assessment Camps were held from November 22, 2021 to December 4, 2021 at Dachan, Padder, Drabshalla, Bunjwah, Trigam, Thakraie, Palmar, Kishtwar, Nagseni, Mughal Maidan & Chatroo covering 117 Panchayats across the District.

Around 539 Specially Abled Persons (Devyanjans) were identified by the assessing teams of ALIMCO who will be provided with the prosthetic Aid & appliances like Tricycles, Wheel-Chairs, Hearing Aids, Crutches, Orthosis (Calippers), Prosthesis (Artificial Limbs) Sticks, Smart Cane free of cost at their door steps. The aid/ appliances will be provided to the identified persons within a period of 2/3 months.

However, the assessment camps at Block Marwah & Warwan, presently being snowbound, shall be organised as soon as the weather improves.
