PanIIT To Launch First-Ever IIT Director’s Forum At Tech4Bharat 2020 With Present And Past Directors Of All 23 IITs

Bengaluru: PanIIT, an umbrella organization representing alumni of all the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs), nationwide, is set to host ‘PanIIT Tech4Bharat 2020’. The conclave will be held on February 28 and 29 at the Indian Institute of Science (IISC) Bangalore which will witness leaders, experts, and resourceful IIT alumni along with the current and past directors of 23 IITs across the country will come together to explore, analyse, anatomise and conduct anatomy on various topics.
The 2-day conference will kick-start with the IIT Director’s workshop on 28th February at Hotel Shangri-La where PanIIT have arranged a strategic initiative to review, realign the running initiatives and launch new initiatives. ‘Tech4Bharat 2020’ will initiate conversations that will emerge by the meeting of minds, from various industries which will result in actions to be undertaken to pick up new nation-building initiatives for PanIIT, under the Pillars of Creation, Continuance, and Talent Showcase.
The first day of the event will feature a workshop for the present and past Directors of the 23 IITs and will be moderated by Padma Shri Dr. BVR Mohan Reddy, Founder and Executive Chairman Cyient, Chairman Board of Governors IIT Hyderabad. Thereafter, The IIT Directors Forum will be launched in the presence of Dr. CN Ashwath Narayan, Deputy Chief Minister Karnataka, Minister for Higher Education, IT & BT, Science and Technology Department, Skill Development, Entrepreneurship, and Livelihood. As an independent group, The IIT Directors Forum will deliberate, and provide long-term road map for Technical Education in India.
Padma Bhushan Mr. B Muthuraman, Former Vice Chairman Tata Steel and Former Chairman Tata International Ltd will make the keynote address.
PanIIT is also organizing the ‘Solve4Bharat Hackathon’, which will be held for over 24-hours from 11 am on February 28 to 11 am on February 29, simultaneously with the Tech4Bharat 2020 at IISc. This annual 24-hour hackathon will showcase innovation, problem solving and product development skills of the participants across 3 focus areas – 1. Urban Development and management, 2. Wearables and Tech for HealthCare and 3. Education and Awareness. It will stimulate conversations on Industry-Academia collaboration, particularly on talent management and talent development strategy. 300+ talented teams from all over the country have already signed up for this exciting event. The participants will be mentored by the experts from the industry, and their solutions will be judged by the jury, and the winning team will be awarded prizes at the valedictory function.
February 29, Day 2 will begin with the inauguration of ‘PanIIT Tech4Bharat 2020’ by Dr. CN Ashwath Narayan, Deputy Chief Minister Karnataka, Minister for Higher Education, IT & BT, Science and Technology Department, Skill Development, Entrepreneurship, and Livelihood.
The PanIIT AI Forum (PAIF) will host a panel discussion to review the progress of the forum’s work and recalibrate the roadmap for future. PanIIT AI Forum (PAIF) was launched at the PIA conclave in Jan 2019 to develop and build the Indian ecosystem to absorb and utilise AI effectively for national, individual and social benefit. Members of the panel are Ms. Anna Roy, Sr. Advisor Niti Ayog, Prof. Pushpak Bhattacharyya, Director IIT Patna, Prof. Rajat Moona, Director IIT Bhilai, Mr. Shashi Bhushan CTO, TCS, Mr. Venkat Padmanabhan Deputy MD Microsoft Research, Mr. Kedar Kulkarni, CEO Hyperverge and Mr. Ravi Narayan, MD T-hub as the moderator.
The second panel on ‘IIT & Industry’ will discuss how to ensure effective collaboration between Industry-Academia-Government. The eminent panel will include Prof. Abhay Karandikar Director IIT Kanpur, Prof. Mahesh Panchagnula, IIT Madras, Mr. Kalyan Mukherjee, Dy. General Manager BPCL, Dr. Manish Kumar MD, NSDC, Mr. Kallappa Pattada Head R&D, Boeing India, Ms. Priya Ajmera, CEO AIC N/Core and Mr. Rajesh Rathi, MD Control Infotech as the moderator.
The third panel on ‘IIT Global Excellence’ – creating a world-class institution, will have eminent educationists like Prof. Anil D Sahasrabudhe, Chairman AICTE, Prof. Promod Kumar Jain Director IIT BHU, Prof. Rajeev Shekhar, Director IIT ISM Dhanbad, Prof. Virendra Kumar Tiwari, Director IIT Kharagpur, Prof. Rishikesh T Krishnan Former Director IIM Indore and Prof. Anurag Kumar, Director IISC as the moderator.
