Patriotic fervour, gaiety marks Republic Day celebration across Jammu division

Jammu: Patriotic fervor and gaiety marked the 72nd Republic Day Celebrations across Jammu division.

Hoisting of the National Flag was held amid impressive Parades and mega cultural events at all venues of functions organised at district, sub-division, Tehsil and block levels.

Newly elected DDC members, besides the senior officers of civil administration, police, army, CISF, prominent persons of the society, social workers and political leaders among others attended the functions.

At Kathua: A mega function was held at Sports Stadium Kathua where Deputy Commissioner, Om Prakash unfurled the tricolor and took salute at March past comprising contingents drawn from Army, Police, PTS, CRPF, and Boys and Girls wings of NCC battalion.

Greeting the people, the DC said the day has great significance as on this day India became a Secular, Sovereign, Socialistic and Democratic republic.

The DC hailed the cooperation of the people during lockdowns, and listed the achievements of the District Administration in the key sectors and implementation of the flagship schemes.

Republic Day celebrations were also held at Sub-district, Tehsil and Block Headquarters of the district.

At each Block level the National flag was hoisted by the concerned chairpersons.

At Udhampur: The 72nd Republic day was celebrated with great patriotic fervor in district Udhampur, where the main function was held in the premises of Government PG College, Boys Udhampur. District Development Commissioner, Dr. Piyush Singla was the chief guest who hoisted the National flag at 9:55 AM and took salute at an impressive march past comprising 12 contingents drawn from CRPF, SKPA, Volunteers Home Guards, District Police, NCC, educational Institutions, besides Police Band,

While congratulating the mammoth gathering, the DDC said that the Constitution of independent India was implemented on 26th Jan 1950, which provides fundamental rights to every citizen of the country. He also listed the achievements of the District Administration.

A scintillating cultural programme featuring patriotic songs and folk dance and music besides, theme based Skit on ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao, CoronaVirus, were also presented by the students and Artists amid thunderous applause from the spectators.

At Ramnagar, the Republic Day main function was held in the premises of Government Model Higher Secondary School, Ramnagar, wherein SDM Ramnagar, Naresh Kumar accompanied with Chairman Municipal Committee, Ramnagar Makhan Lal jointly unfurled Tricolour on the occasion.

Similarly, the Republic Day function was also organized at Tehsil, Sub Divisional, Niabat level and various educational institutions in District Udhampur with great pomp and show, today.

At Kishtwar: The 72nd Republic Day celebration, at Kishtwar, was marked by great enthusiasm, fervor and national spirit.

District Development Commissioner, Ashok Sharma unfurled the tricolor and took salute at the March past.

The DC congratulated the people of Kishtwar on this auspicious occasion of National importance and aspired all to uphold constitutional values and ethics in letter and spirit. .

He also highlighted the developments and awareness programmes launched by the union government in the field of Science and technology, health and sanitation, promotion of Yoga among others, which he said has helped India leap frog in all respects of development. He listed the achievements made in the developmental sector which includes the works taken up under the PMDP, B2V, MGNREGA, languishing Schemes, Jal Jiwan Mission, PMAY, Ayushman Bharat sehat, Aadhar seedling etc in the district.

At Reasi: The 72nd Republic Day was celebrated with patriotic zeal here at General Zorawar Singh Sports Stadium

The National Flag was unfurled by Deputy Commissioner, Indu Kanwal Chib, while the General Salute was received by SSP, Rashmi Wazir.

In her address, the Deputy Commissioner expressed Republic Day greetings to the people and appreciated the communal harmony and unity in diversity displayed by people of the district. She highlighted the achievements of the country since Independence, including the successful ‘Mission Mars’.

The DC praised the ambitious Back to Village initiative and said that it has been instrumental in facilitating government’s outreach to remote villages.

The Deputy Commissioner urged the public to resolve to follow traffic rules and fight drug menace. She urged people to maintain communal harmony and do not pay heed to rumours being spread on social media.

The DC also appreciated the Health Department, civil administration, Education Department, other departments and every citizen for their role in the fight against COVID-19.

The contingents of J&K Police, CRPF, IRP, JK Home Guard, NCC Boys Higher Secondary School, Girls Higher Secondary School and NCC unit of Government Degree College Reasi participated in the march past. A cultural programme was also presented by the students of Girls HSS Reasi, including a solo Patriotic song.

At Doda: The People in Doda celebrated Republic Day with great gusto, national spirit and enthusiasm.

Deputy Commissioner, Dr Sagar D Doifode, unfurled the tricolor. He paid tributes to constitution makers, Corona warriors and inspected the guard of honour*

The celebration witnessed huge participation with the presences of thousands of people at the venue.

Speaking on the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner, highlighted the importance of Republic Day and stated that it is the most significant day in the history of India as on this day in 1950 our country adopted the world’s largest written constitution which laid the foundation of democratic process and good governance in the country.

He counted numerous developmental projects and works undertaken in the district, besides congratulated the people of Doda for their extraordinary cooperation in successful conduct of maiden DDC elections. He also listed various important projects which are in the pipeline, including the Development of various tourist spots like Seoj Dhar, Dedni, Lal Draman (cable car connectivity from Khaleni to Lal Draman), Development of New recreation parks at Doda, etc.

At Samba: The tri-colour in Samba was hoisted by Deputy Commissioner, Rohit Khajuria in presence of Senior Superintendent of Police, Rajesh Sharma here at Sports Stadium, Arazi .

The DC inspected the parade and took salute at the March past led by DySP, Govind Rattan, Dy. Parade commandant Sub Inspector, Sohan Singh, of Jammu Kashmir Police and comprising contingents of ITBP, Home Guard, N.C.C, Govt Girls and Boys higher secondary school, and Govt. Degree College . The Army and ITBP Musical Band and Troop squad were also part of the parade.

The Deputy Commissioner, in his address, said that the celebration of 72nd Republic Day has great historical significance in the backdrop of her rapid growth over the years. He said the people of India owe all this to the great Indian freedom strugglers. He said India has made large strides in science, technology, space research, economics, industries.

About the development activities in Samba, Deputy Commissioner, said that various works have been completed in the district, including construction of AIIMS at Vijaypur, 05 New Degree Colleges, additional District Hospital Block, Bunkers in the borders and others. He said district Samba has immense tourism potential and in this regard Purmandal-Utterbeni tourism Development DPR for 50 crore has been finalized.

A cultural programme depicting the rich composite traditions was also presented by the school children. A total of 1800 students participated in the Republic Day function.

On the occasion, the District Administration gave away mementos and certificates of commendation to several officers for exhibiting exemplary work ethics and professionalism.

The Deputy Commissioner along with Senior Superintendent of Police and Principal District and Session Judge, Samba Mohammad. Akram, presented awards to Additional Deputy Commissioner Suram Chand Sharma, Assistant Commissioner Revenue Jitender Mishra, Tehsildar, Rampaul, Chief Medical officer, Dr Rajinder Samyal.

At Ramban: Deputy Commissioner, Ramban, Mussarat Islam unfurled the national flag here at District Police Lines to mark the 72nd Republic Day celebrations in presence of huge gathering of people and government functionaries.

After the national anthem and inspection of the parade, he took salute from the marching contingents of JKP, IRP, CRPF, Home Guard and Military Piper Band.

After greeting the enthusiastic audience including the locals, students, officers and government employees, the DDC gave a brief account of the main developmental activities in the district during the current year.

He particularly appreciated the public of Ramban for maintaining peace, communal harmony and brotherhood in the district. The DC mentioned the successful struggle of the district administration in controlling the Covid pandemic and conduct of DDC elections. He reiterated his priority for effective implementation of the flagship public health scheme- PMJAY and SEHAT.

A cultural programme based on patriotic and social reform themes presented by the students entertained the limited audience amid Covid restrictions.

Later, prizes were distributed among the performers of the cultural programme and parade by the chief guest. Several officers and officials from civil and police administration and students were awarded for their outstanding performance in their respective fields.

The Republic Day was also celebrated in Gool, Banihal and Ramsoo Sub divisions besides Tehsil headquarters of the district.

At Rajouri: The Republic Day was also celebrated across district Rajouri with great fervour and national spirit.

The celebrations were held at district Headquarter, all additional districts, sub-divisions and tehsil headquarters.

The main function was held at DPL Grounds, where the chief guest, Deputy Commissioner Rajesh Kumar Shavan unfurled the National Flag and took the salute at the march past comprising the contingents of JKAP, JK Executive Police, JK police band, CRPF, JK FPF, besides students of different schools. DySP, Zaheer Abbas led the parade.

In his Republic Day speech, the Deputy Commissioner, extended warm greetings to the Rajouri Public and paid rich tributes to the freedom fighters for their supreme sacrifices which won the freedom to the nation. He also paid homage to all the martyrs of Rajouri who laid their lives from time to time for safeguarding territorial integrity of the nation.

He said that India is competing with other developed nations and has proved mettle in Education-Agriculture-Science and Technology, Energy space Technology, Health and other sectors.

He listed several developmental milestones achieved in the district and informed that the Government has sanctioned ₹370 crore to the district to complete 370 languishing projects in key sectors.

The Deputy Commissioner also hailed the efforts of Officer, Health workers, police personnel, NGOs, Civil society members in the effective management of the COVID-19 in the district.

On the occasion, students of government and private institutions presented a scintillating cultural programme based on themes of patriotism, customs and communal harmony.

At Poonch: Deputy Commissioner, Rahul Yadav unfurled the National Flag here at Sports Stadium and took salute of the March Past comprising contingents of CRPF, JKP, JKAP, Home Guards, JKPQRT Commando, NCC Cadets, Home Guard besides, Police Band led by DySP, Sachin Gupta.

All the COVID19 protocols were followed while performing different activities related to the function to avoid the risk of infection.

Congratulating the people on Republic Day, the Deputy Commissioner said that after gaining Independence the successive governments in India held fast to the goal of planned developmental processes and made remarkable strides in Agriculture, Science & Technology, Industry, education, health, human resource, roads, and infrastructure. He mentioned various ongoing developmental and social schemes in the District and informed the public about achievements made under them. He highlighted various completed developmental works and achievements under the government schemes, capex budgets, and the roll out of the corona vaccine.

The Deputy Commissioner also appreciated the role played by the Police and Paramilitary forces during the COVID and for reaching out to the public during the cross border shelling. He also mentioned the names of ace sportspersons of Poonch, who brought laurels to the district.

On the occasion, a colorful cultural program was presented by the artists and children, which was highly appreciated by the jam-packed audience.

Principal District and session Judge, Madan Lal, SSP Ramesh Angral, ADDC Mohammad Rashid Chowdhary, and other officers from civil administration police and Army besides district officers and a large number of public witnessed the grand event.

The R-Day concluded with felicitation of the government officers/officials for their extraordinary service and presentation of the prizes to the participants.
