Peking University and Freie Universität Berlin work together on area studies
Peking: On the afternoon of June 15, Peking University (PKU) and Freie Universität Berlin (FU Berlin) held an online ceremony to sign a cooperation agreement on area studies. Wang Bo, vice president of PKU, and Verena Blechinger-Talcott, vice president of FU Berlin, represented respective universities and signed the agreement.
Wang Bo expressed the importance of international cooperation in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic. For more than 30 years, FU Berlin and PKU have maintained close ties. Wang hoped that the cooperation on area studies would yield more results, thus benefiting the whole society.
Verena Blechinger-Talcott said FU Berlin has been giving priority to area studies. She added that the bilateral cooperation will further deepen the relationship between the two universities.
The cooperation agreement details exchange programs for graduate students and academic exchanges for faculty members and research fellows. The implementation of this agreement will certainly shore up the research and development of area studies at two universities, and it will be beneficial for both sides to bring up more talented researchers in this field.
