Peking University Postdoc Anupam Bhardwaj wins Gruber Fellowship 2020
Peking: As International Astronomical Union (IAU) announced, Dr. Anupam Bhardwaj, a Boya postdoctoral research fellow at the Kavli Institute for Astronomy and Astrophysics, Peking University (KIAA-PKU), has been awarded the Gruber Foudation (TGF) Fellowship for 2020. The TGF Fellowship is a prestigious program providing US$50,000 annually through IAU for promising young astronomers.
The Gruber Foundation (TGF) has created the Fellowship with the aim of promoting the science of cosmology and other branches of astronomy. The IAU Executive Committee recognizes this contribution to science and shares the desire of TGF to give this distinction the highest possible scientific standing and international character.
Dr. Bhardwaj received his Ph.D. in astronomy from the University of Delhi, India in 2018. He then joined KIAA as a Boya Postdoctoral Fellow in May 2018 and was awarded as an outstanding postdoc in 2019. He is currently investigating pulsating stars as a means to develop a better understanding of stellar evolution and cosmic expansion.
Dr. Bhardwaj will continue his research on stellar evolution and promote the measuring exactitude of extragalactic distance scale as an independent fellowship in the East Asian Core Observatories Association (EACOA) in late 2020. The Gruber Foudation Fellowship will support him as an EACOA fellow in Japan and South Korea.
