Penn State University: Penn State World Campus ranked among Military Times ‘Best for Vets’ top choices

Penn State has been recognized nationally for its online programs for veterans in the recently released Military Times’ “”Best for Vets: Colleges” rankings, with Penn State World Campus No. 5 among U.S. schools that primarily offer an online education.

In the overall rankings, Penn State World Campus ranks 40th nationally and is No. 1 in Pennsylvania.

Military Times, a media organization that serves the military community, describes “Best for Vets: Colleges” list as “the largest and most comprehensive ranking of schools for military service members and veterans.”

According to the Military Times’ website, this year’s methodology included responses from more than 300 schools on questions about services and programs specific to military students — whether active-duty, veteran, or families and dependents of servicemembers.

Penn State World Campus served more than 2,600 military-affiliated students in the fall 2021 semester who are enrolled in undergraduate and graduate degree and certificate programs. More than 400 military students have graduated so far in 2022.

Military students in all branches have access to the Penn State World Campus military support team, many members of which are veterans or military spouses. Students can also utilize specialized services to help support academic success while they are on active duty, deployed, or handling other responsibilities.

Penn State World Campus also offers a Military Grant-in-Aid program to help make higher education more affordable and attainable for service members and their spouses in undergraduate degree programs. Military Grant-in-Aid lowers the cost of undergraduate tuition to $362 per credit and can be combined with funding offered through the Department of Defense Tuition Assistance program.

Penn State has consistently been recognized as a military-friendly school for the many education benefits and support resources available to active-duty service members, reservists, veterans, and ROTC students.
