People’s participation in Back to Village prog must to achieve good governance: DDC Chairman Samba

SAMBA : The elected representatives of people in Samba district today maintained that Public participation is of utmost importance for realising the key objectives of the Back to Village programme- an initiative of JK Government to enforce transparency, efficiency in official working.

Chairman District Development Council Samba, Keshav Dutt Sharma, and senior officers visited Panchayat Gudwal and other areas, where locals had registered resentment against working of few officials in Panchayat and causing delay in the development works. They assured the public that the government would take feedback from each official of the line departments.

The DDC Chairman said that locals need to wholeheartedly participate in the ongoing programme and register their grievances as well as assess the overall developmental works in their Panchayats.

On the directions of Deputy Commissioner Samba, Anuradha Gupta, Additional District Development Commissioner, Rajinder Singh; ADC, Suram Chand Sharma, besides other senior officers were deputed to the Panchayat to assess the ground situation and immediately resolve the public demands.

The ADDC, while interacting with the locals at Gudwal-A Panchayat, said that the Back to village programme was being conducted successfully across the district. He said that the District Administration has immediately reached out to the public from where reports of resentment were being received. “Administration has been working round the clock to assure that all public demands are met on priority, ” said the ADDC.

He said the Government has taken numerous initiatives to address public issues including 225 online services where the public can directly avail different services through dedicated portals. He also listed the Online services of revenue department, social welfare department, Power Development Department, Agriculture, estate, Cooperatives, Jal Shakti, finance, housing and Urban development, Geology and Mining etc.

During the visit at panchayat Ghar Gudwal, a large number of locals and PRI members participated in the Back to Village programme and expressed gratitude towards the administration for reaching out to the public and addressing their genuine demands.

Speaking on the occasion, Sarpanch Anita Devi said that with active assurance of administration, the locals as well as PRI members including panches and senior village members participated in today’s programme. “Issues of our panchayat were addressed by the senior officers of administration and the cooperation extended by the public of Gudwal to visiting officers for conducting the Back to Village programme was evident today” added Sarpanch Anita Devi.
