PetrSU student – winner of the International Medical Forum “Medicine of the Future for the Arctic”

Olga Malyanova, a student of the Medical Institute, took first place at the symposium “Problems of Pediatrics” of the VIII International Youth Medical Forum “Medicine of the Future – the Arctic”, which was held at the Northern State Medical University in Arkhangelsk.
The forum this year is dedicated to the 310th anniversary of the birth of M.V. Lomonosov .

The main goal of the forum is to provide young scientists and students with the opportunity to exchange scientific ideas, experience, present themselves and their works. In addition, for future and novice physicians, this is a good opportunity to learn from invaluable experience and get answers to questions from leading specialists and scientists from both regional and Russian cities.

Within the framework of the forum, the XIV Arkhangelsk International Medical Scientific Conference of Young Scientists and Students, consisting of 28 sections, was held. Olga Malyanova, a 2nd year student of the Pediatrics direction of PetrSU, took part in the work of the section “Problems of Pediatrics” with a report “Analysis of sports head injury in children and adolescent boxers and its consequences” ( scientific supervisor – Professor of the Department of Pediatrics and Pediatric Surgery, Dr. S.S. Nikitin).

The scientific work of O. Malyanova aroused great scientific interest and took 1st place.

I have been boxing for 5 years and am a multiple champion of various competitions. My highest achievement is the winner of the All-Russian competitions. I would like to note that every year there are more and more people who want to go in for boxing, both among men and women. At the same time, the collection of information regarding statistics of injuries in boxing is very difficult. I often observe that children get injuries of varying severity in training and competition, but do not seek medical help. As a result, there is no true information about the presence of injuries on medical examinations for admission to training by sports doctors. I would like to study this issue, help children and adolescents train without injuries, parents and coaches – to present the main directions of injury prevention, and in the future – to deepen their knowledge and, said the student.

Congratulations to Olga and her supervisor prof. S.S. Nikitin and wish you further scientific achievements.
